Ceremonies and Events at UBC Okanagan

The UBC Okanagan Ceremonies and Events Office coordinates the University’s ceremonial, recognition and university-wide special events at the Okanagan Campus. It is the main office responsible for the Convocation Ceremonies, working very closely with many other units on campus to ensure that the graduating students and their families / friends have an experience to remember.

The Office maintains the University’s traditions and protocol. It also coordinates other formal University events and provides advice on protocol for high-level visitors and flag protocol.

Outside of these events, the Ceremonies Office at UBC’s Okanagan campus works with the offices of the President and Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University Relations and Development to produce events such as building openings, VIP visits and protocol, donor recognition events, staff/employee recognition events, and events for the Chancellor and Board of Governors.

The office also assists with campus-wide events such as Create UBC Okanagan (Student Orientation), the Annual Staff & Faculty BBQ and community events such as the United Way campaign.

Throughout the year, the Ceremonies Office will continue to:

  • Support the Offices of the President and Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal
  • Support Place and Promise: The UBC Plan
  • Promote the image of UBC to the internal and external communities through ceremonies and events
  • Support and promote the history and heritage of UBC and UBC’s Okanagan campus through ceremonies and events
