The UBC Okanagan Ceremonies and Events Office is responsible for coordinating the University’s ceremonial recognition and formal university-wide events, as well as annual events on behalf of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Office, President’s Office and other units, in support of the University’s Strategic Plan.
Formal University-Wide Events
Ceremonies and Events is the main office responsible for the Graduation (Convocation) Ceremonies. Held in the gym, the ceremonies include the conferring of academic and honorary degrees. Read more on UBC Okanagan’s Graduation site.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
The Remembrance Day ceremony is held annually in November in the Okanagan Campus Courtyard and is attended by over 300 faculty, staff, students and members of the off-campus community. For more information, see UBC Okanagan Remembrance Day Ceremony.

UBC Okanagan Welcome Back Faculty & Staff BBQ and Information Fair
Each September, the University welcomes UBC Faculty and staff to the new academic year at the Faculty & Staff Welcome Back BBQ. Each year, over 500 staff enjoy lunch, live entertainment and information booths.

Major Entrance Scholarship Reception
This annual event recognizes students for their achievements and is coordinated in conjunction with Student Services & Financial Support.
Faculty Award Receptions
A number of events are held through-out the year to acknowledge the achievements of faculty, including the Researcher of the Year Award, the Teaching Honour Roll and the Awards for Teaching Excellence and Innovation.
Donor Relations & Stewardship Events
Annual and special events to recognize members of the community for their support of the university are coordinated in conjunction with Development and Alumni Engagement.
